Sat 1 and 22 Aug; 9-2pm. Mon 3, 10 and 17 Aug; 5.30-7.30pm
Description
2 Saturdays 1 & 22 August, 9-2pm and 3 Mondays starting 3 August, 5.30-7.30pm
Recently retired, retiring soon, or thinking about it? The transition from work to retirement is a significant change, one many of us find challenging. Though individual choices regarding when and how to retire vary widely, considering what we’d like from this new phase of life is important for us all. Research shows that most of us spend more time planning our annual holiday than we put into the non-financial aspects of retirement planning, despite the fact that this phase of life will hopefully last for decades.
With as much as 20-30 years of active life ahead of us it’s important we find new sources of satisfaction, purpose and meaning. Our world can expand as we explore new directions or realise dreams that have been postponed. The intention of this programme is to create a vision for those years — and a practical plan to take it from ‘wish list’ to reality.
During the interactive workshops you will gain a holistic understanding of the implications of retirement: psychological wellbeing, physical health and wellness, work, recreation and leisure. The expectations of whanau/family and the differing implications for couples and single people will also be covered. You’ll gain a better understanding of the changes that will affect you, identify what matters most in your life, and learn skills to manage the challenges.
