CREATIVE PRINTMAKING

Starts 2 November

Description

Explore a range of creative printmaking techniques in this welcoming, hands-on course. We’ll begin with a visit to Christchurch Art Gallery to discover different printmaking methods and themes. Back at the CWEA, you’ll experiment with mono-printing and relief printing, using woodblocks and Gelli plates to create gift cards and larger artworks. New Zealand-inspired themes, particularly native birds and trees, will provide a starting point for your own designs. This course is suitable for beginners. Inks, tools, plates, blocks and paper are supplied, and the cost of these materials is included in the course fee. Please bring an old shirt or apron to protect your clothing—it may get messy! Diane Swain and Margaret Taylor are experienced teachers, artists and printmaking practitioners.
