WIDE HORIZONS INSPIRED BY GEORGIA O’KEEFE AND RITA ANGUS
Sunday 15th Feb, 10am-2.30pm
Description
Learn about pioneering female artists Georgia O’Keefe and Rita Angus, each singular in their pursuit of a unique artistic vision. Strong, independent women whose spirited work, in a male dominated industry, informed generations of artists to come. Suitable for artists of all levels including beginners. Georgia’s flower close-ups illustrate nature’s grandeur. “Cass” by Rita is an iconic painting beloved by most New Zealanders. Her lush green hills and floss-like clouds contrast with the red ochre horizons of O’Keefe’s landscapes. Learn the principles of composition and blending using soft pastel on paper. Followed by oil pastel on paper blended with odourless spirit for a different effect. After a short lunch break use mixed media to develop your final work based on one/both of these remarkable artists’ work. All materials provided. Tea and coffee provided, please bring your own lunch.
