POT-LUCK FOR LESS: SAVOURY

Friday 20 November 12.30-3pm

Description

As Christmas and the summer entertaining season approach, we’re often invited to gatherings, picnics and potluck meals where everyone is asked to bring a shared dish. Deciding what to make can feel intimidating — and feeding a group can quickly become expensive — but impressive food doesn’t need an impressive price tag. In this part demonstration, part hands-on workshop, Toyomi will show you how to create delicious savoury dishes using affordable, seasonal ingredients. Learn how to turn simple ingredients into food that looks and tastes amazing, travels well and can be prepared ahead. The menu will include inari sushi and canapes made with wonton pastry (similar to a dumpling wrapper), with fillings such as salmon and cream cheese, along with other festive combinations.

Along the way, you’ll pick up practical ideas for shopping on a budget, adapting recipes, presenting food beautifully and making enough to share without overspending. The course fee includes all ingredients, and you’ll enjoy tasting the dishes together. Please bring an apron and containers if you would like to take food home. Toyomi will present the workshop with assistance from Kazuko Iwai. Book this workshop on its own or come to both Pot-Luck for Less sessions.
