BRAIN DEVELOPMENT - THE EARLY YEARS

The young brain is a remarkable organ - enabling us to learn a language, paint a picture, fly a plane or shoot a gun. In this course we will look at the brain development of humans from conception to their early 20s. We will look at the brain’s creation and development, how it changes over time and how it works. We will also consider the tool and tricks our brain comes with, the way we learn over our first two decades, and how modern developments influence where brain research will take us next.

Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, Michael recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
