MEET THE BEETLES

Starts 18 September 10 - 11.30am

Description

About one quarter of all known animal species are beetles, making them one of the most successful groups of animals on Earth. From Aotearoa New Zealand’s remarkable giraffe weevil to African dung beetles that navigate using the Milky Way, beetles lead extraordinary and often surprising lives.

In this two-part series, we will explore the incredible diversity of beetles, how they survive and adapt, and the important roles they play in ecosystems around the world. Along the way, we’ll encounter giant beetles, brilliant disguises, unusual behaviours, and some truly astonishing evolutionary solutions. Join Simon and discover the fascinating world of the “fab 400,000”!

Simon is an award-winning writer in both New Zealand and the United States, and a two-time winner of the LIANZ non-fiction book of the year award. His latest book (published by Te Papa Press), is The Incredible Insects of Aotearoa.
