Monica Lopossay and Simon Pollard are both award-winning photographers with different subjects. Monica is a photojournalist, while Simon’s speciality is natural history. Join Monica and Simon for this two part talk to hear how they both became photographers and what they think makes interesting photographs. Monica Lopossay is a Pulitzer-nominated, White House Award-winning photojournalist with a distinguished career that includes work for The Baltimore Sun and The New York Times. She has reported on significant global events, including the War in Iraq, the healthcare crisis in Haiti, and major breaking news events in the United States. Simon is an award-winning writer, both in NZ and the US and an avid photographer of natural history. He has twice won the LIANZ non-fiction book of the year award. His latest book, The Little Book of Spiders, was released in the US and UK in early April. His latest book for Te Papa Press, The incredible insects of Aotearoa, will be released in May 2025.
