KNIT A BEANIE FOR WINTER WARMTH – Craft for a cause workshop

Starts 1 October from 10.30-12noon

Description

If you can already cast on and knit and purl, and want to extend your skills, then this workshop is for you. Run by Craft for a Cause members, this workshop will be held over two weeks, and you’ll knit a woollen beanie for you, or for you to gift.

You will need to bring your 4.0 mm (size 8) knitting needles and a ball of DK/8 ply woollen yarn, and if you want a pompom, then bring this along to add at the end. We will have other wool yarn for adding stripes, if you wish, and a pattern sheet for you. We will talk you through reading a pattern and working out the size to cast on the right number of stitches. We will then lead you through knitting the beanie, including the ribbed band, adding stripes, should you wish, and then decreasing the crown and sewing it up. We will also show you how to make a knitted flower decoration, and this will be included in the pattern handout. Our pattern will also have other styles that you can knit at home for gifting to other people – or to donate back to the WEA, where we will give them to the causes we support with winter beanies. Limit of 10 participants.
