This conversation style course is for anyone who is curious about and supportive of the idea of in nurturing justice and peace in today’s society when viewed through a lens respectful of Te Tiriti. No prior knowledge or language skills are needed; curiosity and concern for future wellbeing of society is enough.
Although we will not be specifically addressing the meaning of Te Tiriti, nor focusing on learning Te Reo, we will include them in our wider discussions around meanings and understandings of current events and things we notice through media and the arts. The course leaders are teachers with experience of teaching in a varied locations, including Kōhanga Reo and Tertiary Teacher Education. Our energy and enthusiasm comes from our desire to foster meaningful conversations that care about the well-being of future generations.
This course aims to increase our appreciation of the contrasting ways that participants see and respect our world. Explore what it means to honour Te Tiriti in everyday life. Learn together in friendly, conversational sessions, where we share stories, language, and local wisdom as we build confidence together to thrive in Aotearoa New Zealand (AoNZ). The course members (both the leaders and those who enrol) will learn together by sharing our different understandings and life experiences, and reviewing them afresh in relation to Te Ao Māori (a Māori world view).
