A rich variety of religions abound in Central Asia: Zoroastrianism, Sikhism, Jainism, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism and more! In this course we will use history to consider the philosophies and philosophers that significantly shaped Central Asian history, culture and relations with the rest of the world in this varied region nestled between the Judeo-Christian west and the Dao-Confucian east. Michael Couch has been teaching community education courses for over a decade. With an academic background in Philosophy, Classical Studies, Education and History, Michael recently completed his PhD in the History of Philosophy of Education in New Zealand. He enjoys learning new topics and incorporates passion and wry humour into all the courses he teaches.
