A rich variety of religions abound in East Asia: Confucianism, Buddhism, Shinto, Dao/Taoism, and many more. In this course we will use history to consider the philosophies and philosophers that significantly shaped East Asian history, culture and relations with the rest of the world. From China to Japan, Korea to Vietnam, we will explore different ways of thinking around the Pacific Rim.
