This series of lectures will look at the development of the “big 4” political parties and their impact on Aotearoa’s political, economic, social and cultural development. Starting with the Liberals in 1890, moving through to Reform, Labour and finally National. We will look at how the principles, policies and programmes influenced this country domestically and internationally.
Quentin Findlay has a PhD in New Zealand Political History, specializing in the NZ labour movement and the NZ Labour Party in the early part of the 20th century. He has lectured and tutored in political studies and history at the University of Otago and at Lincoln University. He has also been an active participant in the political process, having previously worked in Parliament.
