THRIVING TOGETHER AROUND BIG IDEAS Part Two: Holistic Health and Active Citizenship
Starts 27 August from 12.30-2pm
Description
Our world overflows with information and misinformation about big ideas that can be difficult to grapple with alone. These conversational sessions provide an opportunity to explore important contemporary issues with others in a thoughtful, respectful environment. Each topic begins with a TED Talk (or similar) and uses discussion to help participants unpack ideas, consider different perspectives, and explore practical responses. No prior knowledge is needed – just curiosity and a willingness to engage.
Part Two: Holistic Health and Active Citizenship
Sessions 5 & 6: Holistic Health and Te Whare Tapa Whā: Exploring Sir Mason Durie's influential model of wellbeing and what it offers for individuals and communities today.
Sessions 7 & 8: Active Citizenship: Using Tessza Udvarhelyi's TED Talk How to Build Democracy in an Authoritarian Country, we examine the role ordinary people can play in creating positive social change.
Facilitators Elaine Mayo, Niki Davis and Bronwyn Thurlow (Ngāi Tahu, Te Whānau-ā-Apanui, Ngāti Porou) are experienced adult educators who care deeply about the future of Aotearoa New Zealand.
