In the early 1900s visions of the world’s future were often hilariously wrong, with predictions of flying postmen and firefighters fitted with batwings. But the 1906 International Exhibition in Hagley Park was a vision of New Zealand’s future. Join Simon to see the future as designed by scientists, inventors and engineers around the world and what happened in Hagley Park 119 years ago. Simon is an award-winning writer, both in NZ and the US. He has twice won the LIANZ non-fiction book of the year award. His book The Little Book of Spiders was released globally in April 2024. His fourth book for Te Papa Press, The Incredible insects of Aotearoa, Will be released in May 2025.
