PAINTING - Linda Hart

Starts 15 May - can be done at any time

Description

Linda has being some research on "The Bauhaus" the German arts and crafts school that began post war in 1919. Against all the odds the school stayed open for a miraculous thirteen years despite existing in a desperate economy, surviving the great depression but was finally being defeated by the Nazi regime who closed the school as its ideals seemed communist and many of the staff were Jewish.

Certainly the Bauhaus philosophy was to pare back art to its essentials. One of their principles was to analyse the properties of colour. The theory being that colour when not used to describing things could be used as an abstract value just like the notes in music.

Linda will present Painting module every two weeks until we are able to hold classes again at the WEA in Gloucester Street.
