JAPANESE HAIKU

Description

Starts 13 May, 4 Wednesdays – can be done at any time

5+7+5=17, what can you say in only 17 syllables? Haiku has been a popular poem style in Japan for years until modern popular songs took over.  The overwhelming notion is that less is more! Kazuko will share the art of this poetry style, introducing popular Haiku in Japanese and explaining the cultural background, before guiding you to create your own Haiku. When you have a limited frame, you never know how much you can express!

Each Wednesday, you will receive an email with a theme to complete your own Haiku. Kazuko will give individual feedback and also distribute Haiku to the class via email and YouTube video. By registering for this course you will agree to share your email address with the group.

Kazuko teaches many aspects of Japanese culture and her lessons are fun and participatory.

We are pleased to be bringing you this with no registration cost. We welcome a koha to support our work, you can make this via this link: http://www.cwea.org.nz/donate.php#topline or at the point of registration.
