BLUE-GREEN ALGAE: MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU MIGHT THINK!

Description

Join Paul Broady for this two part zoom session.

Blue-green algae (Cyanobacteria) are found almost everywhere there is light and at least a little moisture. Their range of microscopic appearance is remarkable. They abound over vast areas of the ocean surface, occur in soils worldwide and turn up in all sorts of unexpected places. However, we usually don’t notice them despite them having important functions in the biosphere, as they have done for about three billion years. Mostly they are our friends but some we have turned into our foes. They will certainly be important in our future.
