NOTHING NEW NOVEMBER: SWAP SHOP

Description

Monday 11 November, 6 – 8 pm, $5 *includes choice of Karma Cola or Kombucha and a light supper

Nothing New November is a movement that is challenging everyone to not buy anything new for 30 days this November. Instead participants are encouraged to abstain, swap, or shop from second hand op shops and the like. It is about getting us to think more deeply about consumerism and its impacts on our planet and about reassessing our shopping habits! To celebrate this fantastic idea we are hosting our very own Swap Shop!

So how does it work?

It’s so simple! Just bring along any unwanted items you have at home (clothes, homewares, books etc - no large items please!). On entry they will be sorted by our team of volunteers and you will be given tokens (either 1 or 2 per item depending on the value/quality).

We will then enjoy a drink and a light supper while the items are arranged onto 1or 2 token tables.

When ready we will declare the swap shop open and you will be able to spend your tokens and purchase any of the items on display!

Please note that the $5 entry includes your choice of either a Karma Cola or Kombucha and a light vegetarian supper, please let us know in advance if you have any dietary requirements and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Love this idea so much that you would like to help at it? Please email Lottie at programme@cwea.org.nzif you would be interested in volunteering on the night.
