5+7+5=17, what can you say in only 17 syllables? Haiku has been a popular poem style in Japan for years until modern popular songs took over. Sometimes it was made, read and recited like a “Toast” before a drink and is even known to have been sent as love letters. The overwhelming notion is that less is more!

Kazuko will share the art of this poetry style, introducing popular haiku in Japanese and explaining the cultural background, before guiding you to create your own haiku. When you have a limited frame, you never know how much you can express!! Kazuko teaches many aspects of Japanese culture and her lessons are fun and participatory.
