As in any country the food of Japan is a much celebrated part of Japanese
culture and reflects something of the way people think and look at the world. This course will introduce common ingredients and equip you with the skills and knowledge to create simple but delicious Japanese dishes. Each class we will cook 2 or 3 different dishes and taste test them all! These will include: Odeu (chicken and vegetable hot pot), Suki Yaki (beef and vegetable stew) and a variety of different miso soup recipes to mention but a few. You will also learn some special culinary techniques that will add flourish and flare to your party dishes! The fourth class will include a trip to the local Kosco food store where Kazuko will explain all the different useful ingredients (please note we will meet at WEA for this and car pool to Kosco). Please bring an extra $15 to cover the cost of ingredients. Kazuko is an accomplished Japanese musician and teaches many aspects of Japanese culture.
